20 Film/TV recommendations and where to watch them | February 2021

So much to watch, so little time to watch them all. Unless you have no job like me, then you have all the time in the world. In between the job hunt, I’ve picked some of my favourite films and shows I’ve watched this month.

I’ve had a lot to pick from and a lot of channels to pick from. There are just so many streaming services now. It makes picking something to watch harder than ever…and I have 1000s DVDs to choose from too.

If you don’t have a lot of time to spare and want to just know the best of the best, then look no further. I’ve done all the hard work so you can just start watching some entertaining shows.

Take a look at these recommendations and don’t forget to let me know your favourite films/shows this month, maybe I’ll add them to next months list.

Best films from February 2021

Hotel Artemis

An action film about a hotel/hospital for criminals. Loaded with stars including Sterling K Brown (This is Us), Jodie Foster (Silence of the Lambs) and Jeff Goldblum (Independence Day).

Greenland

I can’t big this movie up enough. I must have watched it a dozen times now. Such a great Doomsday movie and it stars Gerard Butler…what more do you need to know.

Watch on Amazon Prime now

To Olivia

A biography film about Roald Dahl’s work and personal life. It’s not as happy you might think from his work. Inspiration comes from all types of event’s, even bad ones.

Watch on Now TV

The Vanished

This Thriller is a great story about a missing child. The twists and turns are fantastic with an ending you won’t see coming.

Watch on Netflix now

Framing Britney Spears

I’ve known about Britney’s situation for years but I never know some of the details that came out in this documentary. If you don’t know, then you need to watch this. It’s horrific but fascinating. #FreeBritney

I still believe

I do love Britt Robertson. She does get some proper good indie movie roles. Even if it’s based on a religious background (which I’m not a massive fan of), it doesn’t overpower the story of the film. It’s a great movie about finding love and standing by someone. Made me cry my eyes out!

Watch on Amazon Prime now

I Care A Lot

Rosamund Pike can play a great bitch. She’s one of those actors you just love to hate and this is no different. About a con artist who deceives judges to be appointed legal guardian for old people, locking them away in a home and taking all there possessions. See. Bitch. It’s bloody great though.

Best TV shows from February 2021

Night Stalker

A crime documentary about an American serial killer, serial rapist, kidnapper, paedophile, and burglar. Who trolled the streets of LA committing thirteen counts of murder, five attempted murders, eleven sexual assaults, and fourteen burglaries. No patterns. Who could strike any time and any where. It’s truly terrifying.

Watch on Netflix now

Big Sky

A crime drama set in the beautiful mountains of Montana as two girls are kidnapped by a truck driver. AND IT’S ON DISNEY PLUS!!! DISNEY???? Most un Dinsey thing I’ve ever seen but it’s really good!

Watch on Disney Plus Star

It’s a Sin

One of the best series I’ve ever seen. It’s one of those series I’ll probably watch again and will stick with me for the rest of my life. Set around a group of young people during the outbreak of the HIV/AIDS virus and the mysterious nature around it.

Watch on 4OD

Love, Victor

If you loved the 2018 film “Love Simon“, then you’ll love this too. It’s a sort of sequel to the movie but as a series. But based around another kid who’s also gay and struggling to come out at the same school. Only two episodes in so far, but so far so good.

Watch on Disney Plus

Crime Scene: The Vanishing of Cecil Hotel

This crime documentary has a lot of twists and turns to find out the real truth about this case. It’s an incredible story and you’ll get very invested. What really happened? Glad I never booked that hotel in LA.

Watch on Netflix now

This is Us

This cast and crew are going above and beyond, filming during the pandemic to bring the new season of This is Us. It’s also set….now! During the Pandemic and BLM movement. Honestly, it’s one of my favourite shows and I only started it less than 6 months ago.

Watch on Amazon Prime

Soulmates

Do you lie Black Mirror? Then, you’ll love this. Set in a time where finding your soulmate is just a test away, this series brings several stories about what could happen…

Watch on Amazon Prime now

The Wilds

A group of young teenage girls’ survive a plane crash and fight to survive on an island. It’s kinda like Lost with less spooky stuff and more psychological tasks to deal with. Slightly predictable but very dramatic.

Watch on Amazon Prime

Fate: The Winx Saga

Fairy school. What an idea! It’s like Hogwarts for fairies. It even mentions Hogwarts but it’s not. But it’s very similar. It’s very hit and miss. Some episodes I like, some I don’t.

Watch on Netflix now

Ru Paul’s Drag Race UK

Sorry America but this year, the UK queens are doing it better!!! The series is better, the queens are better, the drama is better. That’s the tea. Shantay we stay!

Watch on BBCiPlayer now

The Bay

A crime documentary set in my dear Lancashire. More specifically Morecombe (I play hockey against them). The 2nd season has hit our screens, which brings a new crime to solve and it’s just as good as the first season.

Watch on ITV Hub

The Serpent

This crime series is serious long….but…that’s only because it took so long to bloody catch them. There’s a lot of frustration that comes with this series but will also make you sick to your stomach.

Watch on BBC Iplayer

WandaVision

OMG! It’s getting good!!! The finale isn’t far off and everything is starting to finally make sense. I’m really excited to see how things unfold but I’m actually going to be gutted when it ends. I hated it at first but as soon as episode 4 kicked in….wow, wow, WOW!

Coming soon this March

ALERT! One of my FAVOURITE game shows is coming to channel 4 next month and it’s The Circle. I can’t describe enough how much I enjoy all the twists, surprises, meetups, tricks, games. It’s just an incredible modern-day Big Brother show…but better!

Escape from Pretoria is a new film starring Daniel Radcliffe. Still to this day one of the only celebrities I would actually lose my shit over if I met him in person. Daniel has come a long way from Harry Potter and is growing into an incredible actor.

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is the latest Marvel series to hit our screens once WandaVision wraps up. It’s an odd duo, so I’m intrigued to see how this adventure pans out post End Game and grandad Captain America.

The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers is coming to Disney Plus. Obviously. But as a series. Interesting? And Emilio Estevez is back! Outstanding. Quack Quack Quack!

The sequel Coming 2 America is coming to Amazon Prime, 30 years later. But is anyone excited by this? I didn’t really enjoy the first one, to be honest. Are you excited to watch it?

Now here’s a film I’m excited to watch! Godzilla vs. Kong is coming out in cinemas and on HBO streaming late in March. But how will the UK watch it?

Chaos Walking was another film pushed back and now being released before the cinemas are reopened. It’s got a star-studded cast and looks right up my street.

Lastly, Raya and the Last Dragon which is Disney’s newest release. Made by the creators of Moana which I love love loved! So this has to be good. Zero doubts.
