Last month, Netflix had limited shows but great shows. Quality over quantity. I’d rather have some great shows to watch, than lots of badly made and boring shows spread across the month. Entertain me Netflix!
There was only one other Netflix Original I watched this month which was damn right awful. Again, it was another Sci-Fi series called Another Life. It reminds me of a mix of Alien, When the earth stood still and Arrival but not as good. Actually, it was pretty awful. It was confusing, the story isn’t great and the characters aren’t likable which is my biggest pet peeve. Give that one a miss.
Well I sure got my moneys worth this month with 3 great series and a cheesy movie to keep me occupied.
Here’s some of the films and shows I loved this month:
DARK CRYSTAL: AGE OF RESISTANCE
I’ve been counting the days, weeks and months for this series to start. I love Jim Henson’s work and when I heard they were remaking one of my favourite childhood films, I couldn’t contain my excitement.
The Dark Crystal is an amazing story which emerges you into another world. The characters are incredible as they’re all puppets and it’s been reborn with modern day technology to immerse us even more into this fantasy world. I can’t wait to watch more episodes!!!
13 REASONS WHY
There’s been a lot of negative energy about this show but…it is a depressing and negative story line. What do you expect? I’m gripped by the characters, the story line and the mystery.
Hannah might be really gone now but the show has moved onto the darker territory and a domino effect of the repercussion of Hannah’s story. It’s really clever but not for everyone. It is for me though!
The Glamorous ladies of Wrestling are back and I absolutely love this series. I’m mesmerized by the fashion, the hair, the makeup, the old school vibes, the old tv production sets, the old TVs. LOVE IT. It’s also brilliantly funny. Love the characters in this show. The new series is now set in Vegas and I love the Vegas!
FALLING INN LOVE
OK. This film is super cute. Cheesy, obviously. However, it’s right up my street. I actually really liked Christina Millan in this, shockingly. It’s really light-hearted and love the small community vibe. This might not resonate with everyone unless you come from a small town.
The goat is weird and mildly humorous, there are a lot of WTF moments, the story line is a bit loose but easy to understand. If anything, it makes me want to go to New Zealand more. One day!
WHAT’S ON IN SEPTEMBER ON NETFLIX
It’s all about the leading ladies next month and I’m all on board. All the following films and shows have a strong female lead and there’s a great mix of genres to go along with them.
First up is Unbelievable, with is a crime drama series about the rape stories which happened in 2008. A 3 year story about an 18 year old girl who was charged of false reporting because no one believed her.
The I-land trailer has a hint of Fyre fest vibes with the exclusive island theme, swimming island pig and gorgeous people, but then it completely flips on it’s head. It reveals a horror thriller series with a “Lost” vibe. I’m loving the idea of a new Sci-Fi show to watch and it’s got a great cast to match.
Tall girl is about the tallest girl in high school who falls for a handsome foreign exchange student. Whooo hooo! It’s about a young girls insecurities, falling in love and bullying in school. I’m all about this drama and find it very relatable, but I’m far from tall, more short and stumpy.
