I don’t know about you, but I’m still trying to get over EndGame. Seriously, what a movie! How is anything going to top that? I still have a few films left on my Most Highly Anticipated Films of 2019 list to look forward to and one is this month!

There are plenty of films across different genres to distract you from the dramatic conclusion of EndGame (well until Spiderman comes around). Here’s some of the films you”ll be able to watch this month.

Long Shot

First up is a silly RomCom with Seth Rogen and Charlize Theron. A presidential race film with romantic twist as Rogen is fired to be the speechwriter to Theron his ex babysitter. I don’t really like the idea of a comedy based around the first potential female president but this isn’t really a film to be taken seriously with Rogen at the helm.

Approximate release date 3rd May

Tolkien

Our Nicholas Holt has landed his first serious leading role. Finally! It’s been a long time coming as he’s always been a sub character or had leading roles in sub partial films like Warm Bodies (a guilty pleasure but seriously bad movie). This film is based on the like of J.R.R.Tolkien and how he came to write the biggest books ever made. I have high hopes for this.

Approximate release date 3rd May

The Curse Of La Llorona

Hello, monthly horror flick. This horror looks super creepy. There’s something about kids in horror films which it extra frightening. Nope. Nope. Nope. Step too far with the terrifying kiddies.

Approximate release date 3rd May

Detective Pikachu

Not going to lie. I’m really excited about this film. Yes, I’m a Pokemon nerd. Don’t care. I’ve been playing Pokemon since I had a gameboy. This movie was made for me. It even has Ryan Reynolds as the voice of Pikachu….made for me!!!

Approximate release date 10th May

The Hustle

It’s not been long since Oceans 8 and Anne Hathaway must be craving the con life once more. She’s back at it with Rebel Wilson in tow. Not sure how this duo with work and the story line is a bit weak and done before but it’s a light comedy to enjoy.

Approximate release date 10th May

Rocketman

This….is going to be interestiiiiiing! After the massive success of Bohemian Rhapsody, it comes as no surprise another act is having ago. But this one is…still alive? Usually movie Biopics come after the passing of a superstar but it looks like Elton John wanted to see it, in the living fresh.

Approximate release date 20th May

John Wick: Chapter Three – Parabellum

OK. Not sure how this film is still going but I know there’s a lot of fans out there who love these films. I thought the first film had a great (and hilarious) revenge plot but…3 films later? Action fans will love it, I’ll wait till it hits streaming channels.

Approximate release date 17th May

Aladdin

It’s finally here! After the whole blue genie social media craziness, we finally get to see…if it’s actually any good. Despite Will Smith looking ridiculous in true blue genie form. Personally, I don’t really mind. I just care about paying tribute to Robin Williams in a respectful way. If Jumanji can do it, I really hope Will Smith can too.

Approximate release date 24th May

The Secret Life Of Pets 2

The only proper animation on the list. One for the kids or one for yourself and taking the kids as an excuse. Up to you, your call.

Approximate release date 24th May
