Longest month of my life!? I’ve been so skint this month I’ve spent a lot of time at home trying not to spend any money (that I just don’t have!). I’ve used this opportunity to plough through a lot of Netflix shows. I did some hard graft this month to find only a few diamonds in a pile of rocks.
Let’s start with the shows to avoid shall we….! First up, Unicorn Store. Seriously? WTF. What was that nonsense. As someone with mental health issues and this whole show seems to be based around them. I really didn’t appreciate this film.
Secondly, The Silence. SHAME ON YOU NETFLIX! You can’t just use the cast of Sabrina and try to remake “A Quiet Place“. Honestly, it’s so bad. It’s long too which is even worse. No thank you. NEXT!
Black Summer….I fell asleep. Seriously. I never fall asleep to new films, never mind a scifi?! My genre! Did anyone get through this? Does it get better? Maybe I should give it another go…or use it the next time I’m having trouble sleeping.
The Basement. Predictable. Boring. Not thrilling at all. Micha Barton shouldn’t have left the OC.
Lastly, is You VS Wild with the lovely Bear Grylls. OK. I have to be completely honest. I haven’t watched it?…so why is it in the list? After Bandersnatch I just can’t do the interactive content again. It causes me way too much anxiety. Plus, I don’t like rushing decisions. I’d kill him. Sorry Bear.
So what did I like this month? A few stand out films and shows dazzled me in the last few weeks. Here’s a few I actually enjoyed:
THE CHILLING ADVENTURES OF SABRINA
After all the hype of the first season I was instantly hooked but it had a slow middle and weird abrupt ending. Now I’ve invested in the series, I really enjoyed this season. It was exciting, funny, emotional and every episode. It’s spooky, dark and I love the characters.
THE PERFECT DATE
YASSSS! Netflix are getting so spot on with their Romcoms. They’ve got a magic romcom recipes machine at their headquarters just churning them out. This movie is about a chaperon dating service to help raise funds for college. Great story line and the characters including the two lead roles are great fun to watch. More please!
A breakup story which is more of a comedy than a sad story. I really enjoyed this film as it’s more about a friendship of a group of women who help a friend through a break up. It’s really funny but also very real in terms of the story line and actions of the characters.
Need I say more. David Attenborough is a legend and this series is monumental is bringing global warming and showcasing how we need to do something to protect our planet now, not later. There are scenes in these episodes where you’ll be shocked at what’s really happening around the world! I just can’t watch the walrus again. Heartbreaking.
