7 NEW NETFLIX RECOMMENDATIONS | OCTOBER 2018

SABRINA

This month has to be the best month of Netflix I’ve had since starting this blog. Seriously. I’ve watched more hours of Netflix than I have on TV or going to the cinema. Netflix has given us addictive TV shows to binge over all October. Here’s the best of the best for this month…

MANIAC

Not a show to binge back to back. I actually needed considerable breaks between each episode. It’s a great show but it’s very trippy, can be confusing and was actually effecting me mentally. It’s not uncommon for you to feel certain emotions like, fear, happiness or laugh at the TV but I’ve never had a show make me feel depressed, lonely and anxious. I want to finish it but it’s something that has to be stretched out over time.

THE HAUNTING OF HILL HOUSE

OK. A horror TV Show. Perfect for me right. However, it’s got a very slow start and I really didn’t find it as thrilling or scary as I was told it would be. It was dragged out for the first couple of episodes and leaves you quite bored in some places. It’s also quite confusing as it jumps from the past to the present as some of the characters even though they are set 20 years apart look too similar to each other. However, by episode 4/5 I was completely hooked, terrified and constantly looking out for the bent neck lady.

SIERRA BURGESS IS A LOSER

Netflix are cranking out the teen romcoms lately and I’m loving it. This one isn’t as good as the last few I mentioned my previous Netflix recommendations but it’s just as silly and funny. Even better, it’s got justice for Barb. Yes, Shannon Purser is the leading lady in her own film. Barb would be proud.

22 JULY

Based on the Norway attack in 2011. I don’t remember this attack at the time as I was in a camp bubble in America all summer. When I watched this film, I knew what it was about but I didn’t expect what I saw. It’s realistically terrifying and horrific. The first 20 minutes I had my mouth hung open in disbelief and shock. It’s not something I think you have to watch but need to watch.

DAREDEVIL

I loved the 1st season, then the 2nd and now we’re up to season 3 which has blown me away. This new series is just incredible and has one of the best action sequences I’ve ever seen which was filmed in one take! It’s the best Marvel TV series by far. Don’t waste your time on the other Marvel series’. This is the only one worth investing in. Also, Charlie Cox is the hottest blind guy ever.

MAKING A MURDER

I binged the whole of season 2 in 3 days. I even had to take naps because trying to understand the US court system is absolutely exhausting. The first season keeps you guessing. If they’re guilty or not guilty. This season is all about the new evidence collected, using science and experts which weren’t used before. So again we ask…is Steven Avery guilty? Personally, I think they’re definitely innocent.

THE CHILLING ADVENTURES OF SABRINA

It’s finally here after months of waiting and wondering what the remake of my favourite 90’s teen sitcom would be like. The first episode is completely mesmerizing as you’re thrown into the dark witching world, which is very different to the family fun comedy it is based from. However, all the amazing cinematic scenes from the trailer are mostly within the first episode.

After episode 2, I become less interested. There’s no real story or plot and I can’t see where it’s going. I love the characters and the casting. There’s some great spooky and scary moments too. I’m currently only half way through this series but I am still waiting to be wowed and not very keen for a 2nd series. I’m a little let down if I’m honest or maybe my expectations were a little too high.
