I’ve been away for a while so Netflix took a bit of a backseat. However, I had a great selection of films and TV shows to catch up on when I returned to civilization…and free WiFi. I’ve spent this month binge watching the most recommended shows Netflix has to offer. Sieving out the most decent and entertaining shows which I want to recommend to you. Here’s the best of the bunch.
SET IT UP
When I thought they just don’t make good romcoms anymore, Netflix pull it out of the bag. A romcom within a romcom. A very modern day film set in NYC about personal assistants. I can totally relate. It’s a tough job. Basically, being a slave to the high a mighty CEOs in the big city. Two assistants have enough of their high tempered bosses and think they just need to get laid. Setting them up like “The Parent Trap” and ending up falling for each other too. YAY! Romantic Comedies are having a come back!
YAAAAAAS! The Fab 5 are back and transforming more lives in this incredible TV series. This isn’t your standard transformation show. No, no, no. They don’t just give you a new hair do and new clothes. They transform your house, teach you some new cooking skills, even help you get a job, a girlfriend, depending on who they are dealing with in each show. It’s just fabulous. It’s a really heartwarming show too as they speak about personal issues such as transgender, coming out, religion, family values and other important areas. It’s honestly my favourite show on Netflix. Help me Fab 5. My life is a mess.
BRAIN ON FIRE
This film starts very slow but what a story. It’s a very interesting true story about a woman who has a very rare condition and the doctors are torn between her diagnosis. By her actions, it does appear she has bipolar or schizophrenia but really shows how people can be wrongly diagnosed too quickly and show dig a little deeper. Really powerful stuff.
The Glamorous Ladies of Westling are back with their 2nd season. I enjoyed the 1st season a lot more than I initially thought I would. It’s funny, a show within a show and these 80’s costumes are just incredible. Quite happily getting through Season 2 with no issues so far.
Hold the phone! Martin Freeman is in another horror film. He must be enjoying this new genre as he’s taken on his second film this year where is wants to terrify his fans and audiences. This time he’s gone down under (a nice cheeky holiday too) but the world has been taken over by a virus (the zombie kind). However, this time it’s very remote. I’m not talking Walking Dead where new characters pop up every few minutes out of no one. No. For the most part, it’s just him, his wife and his baby. Yes, baby! She’s so cute too. Even when surrounded by Australian zombies.
