IS YOUTUBE OUR ONLINE CIRCUS?

I recently watched the highly anticipated “The Greatest Showman” and it completely blew me away. I can honestly say it’s one of the best films I’ve seen in a long time. Maybe even better than the multi award winning La La Land who also wrote the lyrics for this film too? It has an incredible story line and cast which me smiling from start to finish. It’s a musical spectacle, beautifully choreographed to perfection  and has a score you’ll want to download ASAP.

I left the cinema wondering why exactly I enjoyed it so much? Then, it hit me. It’s aimed at people just like me. People who are different, unique and stand out when sometimes they want to disappear.

I have Asperger’s and I’ve always been considered different, a freak, weird, not “normal”. I was bullied a lot, just like “the freaks” in the movie. However, I also have the ability to see things differently to other people. I’m creative, loud and impressionable which is why I went to blogging and starting a YouTube channel. Is Blogging/YouTube my online circus?

“Don’t listen to them, they don’t understand you, but they will.”

Ever since I started blogging and YouTube, I’ve felt apart of a community. A safe space. Everyone is just like me. Different. You have to be different to be apart of this crazy online world or you won’t stand out. Who want’s to read or watch someone normal? Everyone is being themselves and that what I love about it.

Everyone is doing something different and helping other whilst doing it. We’re making a difference in our own way. By being ourselves.

“No one ever made a difference by being like everyone else.”

P.T. Barnum, The Greatest Showman

YouTube and blogging gives us a platform for us to shine. Just like the center ring of a circus. Everyone has an act. Gaming. Fashion. Travel. Food. Beauty. Art. Health. Education. Parenting. Sport. We became a family. Our audiences support us and become apart of our community and family too.

“The world was ashamed of us, but you put us in the spotlight. You gave us a real family.”

Lettie Lutz, The Greatest Showman

Sometimes, we lose our way and our audience turns away. Negativity gets us down. Numbers fall. Views drop. Analytics drives us nuts. However, somehow we carry on. Think of new things. Become more creative. This is our circus ring. We are the showman and we decide how we want to perform, write, film. We’re the risk takers. We wouldn’t have a blog or Channel in the first place if we didn’t take risks.

“You’re risking everything you’ve built.”

“Well how do you think I built it?”

I love having an outlet to be creative everyday. It keeps me going and I really enjoy it. I know a lot of people who tell me they wish they could do the same. What’s stopping you? Start that blog, create your channel, make your stage. Come and join the Circus with us!

“I can’t just run off and join the circus.”

“Why not? You clearly have a flair for show business.”

Everyday I see a Blogger or YouTuber do something amazing. Showcasing their talent, creativity, individuality. That’s what makes us special. We just needed a platform to show what we could do.

Thank you YouTube and WordPress for giving us a stage to let us shine.

I rate “The Greatest Showman” 10/10

Uh YES!!! “This is me” was the perfect song for anyone who’s ever felt different or an outcast! I love how you’ve taken the film as a reflection of youtube and blogging!

I loved the film and was waiting for your thoughts/review on it!
